Online retailer, Yayme! Personalised Gifts, inspired by Blake Mycoskie’s ‘One for One’ approach has decided to start their own initiative, spearheaded by Managing Director Vicky Solopotias.
Yayme! (www.yayme.com.au) is certainly no stranger to similar appeals having donated over 1000 blankets to Foodbank’s Warm Up Winter Appeal in 2010. However after reading Blake’s book Start Something That Matters, Vicky Solopotias realised she had found the perfect campaign to allow her to give back to the local community.
“I am a great believer in the power of the universe and how people from all over the world can contribute to something in order to make a difference. And while we have given to various charities in the past, I wanted to do something really unique – something which I felt truly passionate about. Blake, through his book, has given me the strength and possibility to achieve something great,” says Vicky.
In their latest blanket initiative, for every personalised blanket sold, Yayme! will donate one blanket to Save The Children Australia.
The Yayme! manifesto emphasises Vicky’s long terms goals for the organisation.

“I felt the Save The Children Australia appeal covered each point in our manifesto singlehandedly which was what made it so rewarding from its inception. When I first introduced the idea to my team, they were extremely supportive from the get-go. The energy and motivation of everyone was inspiring in itself,” recalls Vicky.
While Vicky does not shy away from publicity having been featured on Today Tonight back in 2008, she hopes that the organisation’s continued success and favourable reputation will be enough to spread the word about the initiative.
