Birthday Gifts for Second Birthday

Personalised Bath TowelSecond birthdays are amazing fun! Little ones are aware of their surroundings and are interacting so much more than when they turned one.

They can be easily overwhelmed though, so it’s best to space gift-giving out over the day. Give them a few gifts at a time and give them time to play with each new thing.

This age group are still very still very much sensory learners, and you’ll find that things will more often than not end up in little mouths. With this in mind, don’t purchase gifts or games for children aged 3+, as these generally contain small parts that are inappropriate for younger children and could pose a choking hazard.

Little girls will love a doll stroller so they can push their own baby around just like Mummy, and little boys love all things Thomas the Tank Engine.Doll Stroller

Yayme have personalised bath towels and every time your young one takes a shower or bath they will love drying off with their very own soft towel.

Regardless of the gift you give, it’s the love behind it that counts, so choose your gift with love and you can’t go wrong!

Fairy Tales

Kids and adults alike seem to be fascinated with the subject of fairies.  These mythical creatures have been featured in books, movies, and beautiful works of art – cementing their popularity in our folklore.

Many people to this day actually believe that fairies do exist although of course there is very little to support any of these claims.  Have you heard of the Cottingley Fairy images which were released in 1917?  They were a set of five photographs which seemingly captured two cousins interacting with fairies.  Unfortunately for the believers, the photographs were shown to be fake in the early 1980s but for a while there it brought about a mixed reaction of excitement and disbelief.

Fairies will continue to survive as long as we support the idea of the tooth fairy and other such wonderful mythical characters.

Thinking of specific fairies, how many do you think you could name off the top of your head.  Tinkerbell…The Fairy Godmother…Flora, Fauna and Merryweather perhaps?  More than 10 and I would hasten to say you were almost a fairy expert!

If you happen to have a little one who believes in fairies then have a look at our Personalised Fairy Quilt/Doona Cover Set – it even glows in the dark sparking the imagination for even more fantastical tales.

Flower Power

Giving someone a gift of flowers is both memorable and beautiful.  Giving a gift featuring flowers is all this and more.  Flowers or floral designs appeal to females of all ages from young girls through to the elderly and everyone in between.  They are extremely feminine and appealing and looking at our Pink Flowers range of gifts, we can’t help but agree.

Flowers immediately brighten up the spirits and freshen up the surrounding decor.  They instantly put a smile on someone’s face and show gratitude and thoughtfulness.

I love how flowers have an almost secretive language associated with them.  Some of my favourite meanings are listed below.

Orchid – Refined Beauty

Pear Blossom - Lasting Friendship

Violet – Faithfulness

Peony – Bashfulness

Yellow Tulip – Hopelessly In Love

Primrose – Eternal Love

Poppy - Imagination

Red Rose – True Love

Tuberose - Pleasure

Magnolia – Dignity

Pink Rose – Friendship

Snow Drop - Hope

Giving a gift of flowers need not be sparked by a special occasion either – any day is a great day to give a gift of beauty.

Don’t forget Mother’s Day on Sunday 13 May – flowers and floral inspired gifts are perfect for all the special “mums” in your life!
